Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao, called popularly as Camila Cabello, is originally a Cuban and was born in Cojímar, Eastern Havana, Cuba in 1997, but is presently an American citizen. Her father is a Mexican, Camila Cabello and her family moved back and forth for several years between Mexico and Havana in the US, before finally settling in Miami, Florida.
Growing up, Camila Cabello had been influenced by Latin music, and from an early age she had it as a career insight to the extent that she dropped out of school to pursue her singing career, she later managed to obtain her high school diploma once her career was established, and that was when she joined the girl group "Fifth Harmony".
It is rather strange how Fifth Harmony came to be formed. She had gone to audition for The X Factor with the song 'Respect', but it was rejected since rights for the song had not been obtained. Camila Cabello was later called back to the stage along with other contestants namely Ally Brooke, Normani, Lauren Jauregui and Dinah Jane to form a girl group, and somehow they managed to attain the third place in the show. This group eventually came to be known as the Fifth Harmony.
With that beginning, they were offered a joint deal to sign up with Syco Music and Epic Records, and from there they released "Better Together" in 2013. Then came the studio album "Reflection" in 2015 and the next album "7/27" in 2016. These two albums yielded two singles that were widely acclaimed and reached top 10 international charts.
It had been noticed that Camilla stood out among her group and as such she eventually decided to go solo, and that was in 2016. A duet with the Canadian singer Shawn Mendes titled "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and the single charted at Number 20 in the US and 18 in Canada. It was also certified as platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. This was followed by another single with American rapper Machine Gun Kelly "Bad Things" and it reached a peak of number four on the US Billboard Hot 100.
This was the real beginning for Camila Cabello as an independent singer going on to win 31 awards to date among which are Billboard Music Award, an MTV Europe Music Award, an iHeartRadio Music Award, three iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards, and a Billboard Women in Music Award for Breakthrough Artist, to mention but a few. Lately, her song "Havana" has gained worldwide fame and was rated Most Streamed Song Ever by a female artist, and it was followed in 2018 by her latest album "Camila" which debuted at Number One in the United States.
Camila Cabello is a young singer, but despite that she already has great fame and that is not all, Camila Cabello has her hand deep into philanthropy with issues that involve children as well as girls’ equal access to education, health care, and opportunities.
