Well- known professionally as Cardi B, Belcalis Almanzar was born on October 11, 1992. She is an American rapper, songwriter and also a media personality. Cardi B became well-known to people not to her liking to music but she gathered eyeballs by discussing her career as a stripper on the social media. Her care-free attitude without any filters was what made her an internet sensation, and thus made her an Instagram celebrity.
Born as Belcalis Almanzar, Cardi B has roots in African-Trinidad and Dominican Republic. Her birth and early years were at The Bronx, New York. But most of her childhood days was at her grandparents' place in Washington Heights. During her teenage, Cardi B was a member of the Bloods and also attended school at the Renaissance High School for Musical Theatre and Technology.
While she attended school, she also was an employee at a supermarket in Lower Manhatten. This job was her last before moving on to stripping at the age of 19. It all began when she was fired from her supermarket job and she was recommended the stripper job by her former manager. She also said that her move to stripping was to escape from poverty and domestic violence as she was in a very much abusive relationship. Thinking that with the money earned by stripping to finish college, Cardi B had to drop college midway.
In November 2015, Cardi B made her musical debut with Jamaican dancehall singer Popcaan. It was a remix to Shaggy’s single “Boom Boom”. Her music video debut was on December 15, 2015, with the rendition of English rapper Lady Leshurr’s song “Cheap Ass Weave”. In March 2016, Cardi B released a full-fledged project and it was a mixtape which got titled as "Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol.1" and another mixtape was released on January 20, 2017, named "Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol.2". On September 12, 2016, a compilation album was released named "Underestimated: The Album" collaborating with various artists from the KSR Group such as Hood Celebrityy, SwiftOnDemand, Josh X, and CashFlow Harlem.
Her commercial debut was on June 16, 2017, with the single “Bodak Yellow” by Atlantis Records and it got reviews and entered the top two position of the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart, moreover it featured to be the number one on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The song stayed on number one place consecutively for 3 weeks along with Taylor Swift. The song Bodak Yellow is the lead single from her upcoming album "Invasion of Privacy" which is set to be released on April 6, 2018.
She was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, and she became the first woman to have five top 10 singles simultaneously on the Billboard Charts.
By November 2016, her fame got spread at the digital magazine cover of Vibe, and she also partnered with MAC cosmetics and Rio Uribe’s Gypsy Sport for the events at New York Fashion Week on January 20, 2017. She also performed at the Hot 97’s Annual Summer Jam Music Festival where she performed "U.N.I.T.Y", a 1993 hit single of Queen Latifah about female empowerment, with many famous rappers.
