Marshall Bruce Mathers III is professionally known as Eminem. He is an American rapper, record producer, songwriter and actor. Eminem was born on October 17, 1972, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He is one of the most controversial and best-selling artists of the early 21st century. He is a member of D12 and his debut album is Infinite released in 1996. Eminem reached mainstream popularity in 1999 with his The Slim Shady LP and the album went multi-platinum, earning Eminem two Grammy Awards and four MTV Video Music Awards.
Eminem released The Marshall Mathers LP in the year 2000 and it became the fastest-selling album in rap history. The Marshall Mathers LP sold over 19 million copies globally and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. This album is broadly listed among the greatest rap albums of all time. In 2010, Eminem released the Grammy-winning album Recovery. He is the best selling artist of the 2000s in the United States. His music concerts were well accepted by the fans with their regular participation. Eminem finally managed to lash out his addictions to drugs and alcohol and came back to recording music. He won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for Lose Yourself and became the first rap artist to win the award.

He could sell more than 172 million albums and it made him one of the world's best-selling artists. As of June 2014, Eminem is said to be the second-bestselling male artist of the Nielsen SoundScan age, the sixth-bestselling artist in the U S and the bestselling hip-hop artist, with sales of 45.1 million albums and 42 million tracks overall.
