Florida Georgia Line, an American country music duo of two vocalists Brian Kelly from Florida and Tyler Hubbard from Georgia, was formed in 2010 in Nashville, Tennessee. Both of the members at their earlier stage mainly gained interest in music through church worship services. The duo is said to be the most successful country music acts of the 2010’s.
Brian Kelly was an ace baseball player that led him to a scholarship at the Florida State University, which he later transferred to Belmont University where he quit sports and began learning to play the guitar and then wrote music by being inspired by a Christian rock group Casting Crowns. Whereas Tyler Hubbard was a church worship leader, who formed his own hip-hop group Ingenious Circuit. The duo met at Belmont University, through a campus worship group and then following graduation they thought of giving themselves two years to succeed as a country duo. To pay bills, they did odd jobs by the time and played at clubs over the weekend.
They recorded and digitally distributed their first ever EP ‘Anything Like Me’. They got recognition through Nickelback producer Joey Moi, and all three began entering studio together. The group was very hard working and used to spend days polishing songs. Their band modeled sound on bands like Shinedown, Nickelback, and Three Days Grace. But the most interesting was when the song ‘Cruise’ first aired on satellite radio and was selling well on iTunes store. ‘Cruise’ holds a significant record to date, the best-selling digital song of all time with more than 10 million sales and was featured in #1 chart on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart until Sam Hunt took the honor with his song 'Body Like a Back Road'. It is said that ‘Cruise’ was downloaded over seven million times making it the first country song ever to receive the Diamond certification. The Florida Georgia Line played on the 2012 Country Throwdown Tour, along with many artists like Corey Smith, Justin Moore, Josh Thompson, Gary Allan and Rodney Atkins.
The duo’s second single ‘Get Your Shine On’ was released in 2013 and reached number one on Country Airplay Chart and another track named ‘Round Here’ stood in number one. Their songs kept on featuring in either Country Airplane chart or Hot Country Songs chart. ‘Here’s to the Good Times’ was collaborated with Luke Bryan and also reached the number one on Hot Country Songs chart. The duo’s first single hit ‘Dirt’ made it to the country radio and digital sales outlets and this single became the sixth consecutive single by Florida Georgia Line to reach to the top 5 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
Then in the year 2016, they released their third studio album 'Dig Your Roots' which featured prominent artists like Tim McGraw, Ziggy Marley, and the Backstreet Boys. They also collaborated with Bebe Rexha on a song called ‘Meant to Be’. Presently the duo is on their Dig Your Roots Tour along with Ryan Follese, Chris Lane, and Dustin Lynch.
