Granger Smith was born in Texas in 1979, he is a famous singer and songwriter. Noticeably, he has been singing country, but his style has managed to change country style gradually through one single at a time. He did that by blending hits that resulted in songs that were far from typical. Granger’s music provides a refreshing and unique variation to the country music scene.
From his early teens, precisely at age 14, he became interested in music and pursuing it as a hobby he taught himself Guitar – still his favorite instrument along with the Vocals. And by 19 he had signed his first contract with EMI Music Publishing for songwriting.
Having his own label, he went on to release the first of his albums "Waiting on Forever" in 1998, but it was not until 2004 that it was followed by his second album "Memory Rd.", then came to the next album "Pockets of Pesos" in 2005. This was quickly followed by the fourth album "Livin' Like a Lonestar" in 2006. All these albums were under his own label.
And it was in 2008, that he started releasing singles individually and before releasing the whole album. Some of his most popular singles are; Colorblind, Don’t Listen to The Radio, Gypsy Rain, I Almost Am, Superstitious, I’m Wearing Black, Bury Me in Blue Jeans, If the Boot Fits, You’re In It, Among Others. Granger Smith has had 8 Top 10 singles on the Texas Music Charts and he even successfully launched a crowd-pleasing alter-ego as - Earl Dibbles Jr - Country Boy, this went on to give him viral success with the single 'The Country Boy Song'.
2009 was the year that he released the fifth album "Don’t Listen to The Radio", followed after two years by the album "Poets and Prisoners".
With the onset of 2013, he released the album "Dirt Road Driveway" and it was published by Pioneer Music. It was not till 2016 that he released the album "Remington", the album that got him The BMI Award. Then, in 2017 he came out with the album "When The Good Guys Win" for which he was nominated for iHeartRadio Music Awards as Best Country Artist.
To date, Granger Smith has only one live album "Live at the Chicken" released in February 2012 under his own label.
As a way of supporting his fellow countrymen and soldiers who are out of the country, in 2008 he traveled to perform for soldiers in Iraq and Kuwait. He has also been known to run the 100-mile soldier run, again as a way of support.
It is Granger Smith’s mark as well as prowess to mix country music with his own songwriting that is not too serious or too playful. But what it is the type of music that seem to have reached many hearts enough to make him not just a success but a welcome visitor in any home with his unique style of music.
