Imagine Dragons is an American rock band founded in the year 2008. The band has four members consisting of lead vocalist Dan Reynolds, lead guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist and keyboardist Ben Mckee and drummer Daniel Platzman who all hail from Las Vegas, Nevada.
It all began with the friendship of Dan Reynolds and Andrew Tolman, where they were both students at the Brigham Young University in the year 2008. Both Dan and Tolman recruited a few members into the band, and a few exited as well. During that time the band released an extended play titled "Speak to Me" in the same year. Wayne Sermon and Ben McKee were Berklee College of Music students who joined the band later on.
Their hometown Provo, Utah had a very large fan following but then the band members moved to Las Vegas where Dan Reynolds resides. It was at that time the band recorded and released their first three EP’s, "Imagine Dragons" and "Hell and Silence", was recorded at Battle Born Studios and "It’s Time" got released just before they signed a record deal.
Their big break was at the Bite of Las Vegas Festival 2009 when the band Train’s frontman became ill just prior to the festival. In order to fill in a band because of the void, Imagine Dragons were called upon. The band got to perform to a crowd of 26,000 people. Soon after they started to get noticed, they signed with Interscope Records in November 2011, and they began to work with English Grammy-winning producer Alex da Kid.
The band’s single “It's Time” got released and the band started to be a known face. After that, their debut studio album "Night Visions" (2012) got released which won them record sales and awards. The album churned out chart topper singles like “Radioactive” and “Demons”. The band got placed at the top of the rankings, and their Platinum sales, top 5 hit on the Hot 100, etc., made Billboard name them "The Breakthrough Band of 2013". They were also got named as the “Biggest Band of 2017”. "Radioactive” holds the record for most weeks on the Hot 100, "Night Visions" named as the “Biggest Rock Hit of the Year”.
A second studio album "Smoke + Mirrors" got released in February 2015 which peaked at No.1 position in the U.S, Canada, and United Kingdom. The band took a year and a half break from music as they were busy with musical tours. When the band was still on a break, they kept in touch with fans through social media platforms such as Twitter, where they posted series of videos and also uploaded teasers. On February 1, 2017, Imagine Dragons got their third studio album "Evolve" released by Interscope Records, which had chart-topper singles “Believer” and “Thunder”.
They won three AMA’s, five BMA’s, one Grammy Award and one WMA. On May 2014, the band was nominated for fourteen BMA’s including Top Artist of the Year and a Milestone Award. Over the years, the band Imagine Dragons managed to sell more than 12 million albums and 35 million singles worldwide.
