Born on October 21, 1993, at Chattanooga, Tennessee, Kane Allen Brown is an American country music singer and songwriter. He is purely a social media star as he got known to the public through it. His first release in the year 2015 was an EP which was titled as "Closer". Later in June 2015, a new single got released named “Used To Love You Sober”.
Early 2016, Brown signed his musical contract with the RCA Nashville where he released another EP Chapter 1 in March 2016. At the end of the year, Brown released a full-length debut self-titled album on December 2, 2016. The album contained a single, “What Ifs”.
He has achieved the status of being the first artist to have a top chart on all five main country charts. He was nominated for both the ACM award for the new male vocalist of the year and CMT Music Award for Breakthrough Video of the Year for “Used To Love You Sober”.
Being raised by his single mother, Brown was homeless, and they moved around quite a lot when they were young. It resulted in Brown attending different schools out of which he used to sing in the choir at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School, Georgia. He sang along with Lauren Alaina, who was the runner-up of American Idol Season 10. He grew up to singing country music and also his interests were on to R&B music as well. During his school days, Brown sang a Chris Young’s single “Gettin’ You Home” and he was accoladed for his performance which made him began to perform country music.
Brown began his musical career with song covers by Brantley Gilbert, Billy Currington, and Alan Jackson. The one cover is still remembered as he garnered a whopping seven million views and it was the cover of George Strait’s “Check Yes or No” which was released on September 30, 2015. His Facebook followers reached over a million. With this short span popularity; Brown released a teaser of his own single “Used To Love You Sober”. This 2015 October release made a record viewership of 1 million views within three hours, and the number reached over 11 million views after two weeks.
To produce a six-song EP, Brown raised funds with the help crowdfunding site Kickstarter. It was released on 2nd June 2015, and it debuted taking the 22nd spot in the Top Country Albums chart. In his debut week, he sold 3200 copies. “Don’t Go City On Me” occupied the 43 spot at the Country Digital Songs Chart.
Kane signed a contract with Sony Music Nashville and the records under the RCA Nashville Label. In this second EP Chapter 1, a new single named “Used To Love You Sober” was released on October 21, 2015, and it was on his birthday. With the popularity, it speedily reached to number 2 position. Another song, “Last Minute Late Night” from the same album was released later in November, and it garnered the 9th position by selling 26,000 copies and a third single “I Love That I Hate You” followed at the end of November which sold 17,000 copies. There was also a February release of “Can’t Stop Love”, a collaboration with Chandler Stephens.
