Born on 25th October in Santa Barbara, California, the United States in 1984, Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson is a singer and songwriter. She is popularly known professionally as Katy Perry, and started singing in church as a teenager and continued to pursue a career in gospel music. In 2001, she signed with Red Hill Records to produce her entrance studio album ‘Katy Hudson’ under her name, which did not do well commercially. The following year she moved to Los Angeles where she ventured into secular music and started working with producers including Dr. Luke, Glen Ballard, and Max Martin.
She finally signed with Capitol in 2007 and released her first single, ‘Ur So Gay’ the following year, however, her career would take off by the release of her next single ‘I Kissed a Girl” in 2008, which topped the charts in 2008. Having great ambitions, Katy Perry released the album “Teenage Dreams’ in 2010, from which the single “California Gurls” rose through the charts at number one on the Billboard Charts. The song, “Firework’” from the same album also performed well and was the title track of the album.
