Professionally known as Lady Gaga, she has won hearts of people from every part of the world. Born on 28th March 1986, Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta was brought up in the opulent Upper West side of Manhattan. But her childhood wasn’t as how the place is. Her parents came from lower-class families, and they really had to work hard for everything. A disciplined and a very dedicated student in her early childhood, Stefani always considered herself a misfit and was always mocked for being very provocative or very much eccentric.
She is still known for her experimentation with new images in her music videos, concerts, and stage shows and it was also seen at public gatherings as well. Her musical career began by performing shows at open mic nights and school plays and later she dropped from college to become a professional musician. She worked for a while at Def Jam Recordings and when her contract got canceled later, Gaga worked as a songwriter for Sony/ATV Music Publishing. In the year 2007, Akon helped Lady Gaga to sign a joint deal with Interscope Records and also made Lady Gaga sign for his own label KonLive Distribution as well.
She tasted success in her debut album itself which had aired in the year of late-2008. The record was a mix of dance-pop and electro-pop. The record title was named as ‘The Fame’ and she gave out singles like “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”. Both the singles topped charts and since then, she never looked back. There was a follow-up EP, "The Fame Monster" which had aired in 2009 which featured singles like “Bad Romance”, “Telephone” and “Alejandro” and they all were a success. In the year 2011, Gaga released her full-length album ‘Born This Way’ and the album was all of electronic rock and techno. In a week, the album sold more than one million copies and it topped the US charts. The title track “Born This Way” sold over a million downloads and it also became the fastest selling song on iTunes within a week.
With the third album named ‘Artpop’, Gaga ventured into something new which she had never done before, she had changed the genre of her album itself and that is how she ventured into R&B and disco. This album also topped the US charts which had included the very popular “Applause”. Later in the year 2014, a jazz album got released by Gaga named ‘Cheek to Cheek’ with Tony Bennet, and this also got to be the number one album in the US thus making the achievement a third No. 1 consecutively.
Lady Gaga moved to act in television series from the year 2015-2016 named as the "American Horror Story: Hotel". For this, she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in the year 2016. After this series, Gaga released her fifth studio album "Joanne" in the year 2016 where she used a mix of country and pop but it didn’t do quite well as the earlier albums.
Lady Gaga thus became the first woman artist to have number one albums in the US and the performance during the 2017 Super Bowl show made Gaga receive critical acclaim.
With her discography, Lady Gaga sold off 27 million albums, 146 million singles, a good number of Guinness World Records, three Brit Awards, six Grammy Awards, and Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Billboard’s Artist of the year and Forbes powerful people.
