This franchise was founded in the year 1970 and was named as the Buffalo Braves. The team then relocated from Buffalo, New York to San Diego, California in the year 1978, thus got to be known as the San Diego Clippers. Later, in the year 1984, the Clippers moved to Los Angeles and then got to be known as the Los Angeles Clippers. Steve Ballmer presently owns this team, and the current head coach is Doc Rivers. The club’s primary logo features a basketball in the shape of a compass, with the club’s ‘LAC’ monogram which is situated in the middle and then there is the club’s wordmark logo in black. The team colors are red, blue, black, silver and white.
In the 1970-71 season, the Braves won their first game against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a score of 107-92. The season game of 1974-75, witnessed the star Bob McAdoo after he got picked in the 1972 NBA Draft. He led the games and was later awarded as the Rookie of the Year and also the league’s MVP of the same 1974-75 season. During McAdoo’s tenure with the franchise, the Braves reached the playoffs for three consecutive years. The Clippers have overall qualified for the playoffs just twelve times, and the most recently in the 2015-16 season. The Clippers have gone through the first round of the playoffs only for five times; they were in the years 1975-76, 2005-06, 2011-12, 2013-14 and 2014-15. This team has never won any league or conference titles ever. They have also never been to a Western Conference Final game in their 45-year history. They also have only 11 seasons with a 0.500th of winning percentage.
On April 17, 2000, the Sports Illustrated had three Clippers fans on the cover that stated the Clippers as ‘The worst franchise in sports history’. However, with the addition of players like Blake Griffin and Chris Paul into the team, they made steady progress to be the title contender in the coming years. Eventually, the team won the first division title in the 2012-13 seasons. It was the team’s 43rd year in the league, and this win was repeated in the following year.
The Los Angeles Clippers had their rivalry only with the Los Angeles Lakers, ever since the team known as Buffalo Braves moved to Los Angeles in the year 1984. Their rivalry was infamously getting called as the ‘Hallway Series’.
