A hip-hop band from Lawrenceville, Georgia, US, Migos band was founded in 2008 and consists of a trio of rappers who are known by their stage names Takeoff, Quavo, and Offset. Rumors have gone around that they are brothers, but that is not the case, still, they are members of the same family and have been brought up together since childhood. From there came the initiation of the band Migos.
For quite a while, the band was only performing in the streets and it was not until 2011 that the band managed to release their first project which was a mixtape titled "Juug Season", and this was closely followed by another mixtape titled "No Label" in 2012.
Still, their first success was marked by the release of the single "Versace" in 2013 and which had been taken from the mixtape "Y.R.N Young Rich Niggas", it peaked at No. 99 on US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
They took their cue from the success of the single and went on to release more singles "Fight Night" in 2014, which was featured as one of 2014’s best 25 songs and peaked at 69 on Billboard 100.
Y.R.N Young Rich Niggas was released in June 2013, and at that point, Versace gained critical credit and was later placed as number three on XXL's - 25 Best Songs of 2013, among other credits. The mixtape itself - Y.R.N. Young Rich Niggas was on the 27th-best albums of 2013, and sixth-best hip-hop album of 2013 by SPIN.
"No Label 2", the sequel to No Label 1 was released in 2014 and generated positive reviews from music critics and with that, the Migos went on to reveal that their next project would be the mixtape "Y.R.N 2.".
In the end, it turned out to be a full album with 20 songs, and later the name was changed to "Y.R.N: The Album" and was released in July 2015. The Migos had collaborated with other artists previously, but in this album, there were guest appearances by Chris Brown and Young Thug. Upon its release, the album received positive music critic reviews and in its first week on the market, it achieved sales that pass 15, 000 copies.
After that, the band Migos left Entertainment 300, the American Record Label, and went independent. "Culture" in 2016 and "Culture 2" in 2018 were the next albums that the band released, with singles from both albums making hits and placed on the Billboard 100.
There have been a lot of legal issues tied to Migos, some trivial and others serious – concert issues, suspended licenses, rumors on gun threats, injuries, rumors of a deal that were later denied, and more. Still, the Migos face these issues as a part of who they are and the way they had lived and been bought up.
The issues do not diminish the Migos success, fame, credits of songs, or their fan base, but are accepted along with the acceptance that the Migos have found as rappers – a genre that is greatly loved and sought.
