Alecia Beth Moore, famously known as Pink, is an American musician born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, on September 8, 1979. She is a songwriter and singer, but well known for her dancing and acting skills.
Pink is mostly a solo artist and her first recognition as an artist in her own right was when she was signed to her first record label with the girl group Choice in 1995. However, Choice disbanded in 1998 but LaFace Records saw the potential in the young Pink and offered her a solo deal.
It was in 2000 that Pink rose to fame with her solo debut album "Can't Take Me Home" and it was certified double-platinum in the US and produced two US Billboard 100 top-ten songs, namely "There You Go" and "Most Girls". But that is not all, in the same year she got her first Grammy Award with the Moulin Rouge soundtrack as well as her first number one single, and in the US it was the most successful airplay-only single in history and got Pink the Video of the Year Award at the MTV Video Music Awards.
From henceforth, Pink took a Pop Rock direction in her second album "Missundaztood" in 2001. This album sold more than 12 million copies and three top singles. It took her and Lunda Perry several months to write the songs, and get the album ready. From this album, the single "Get the Party Started" was a hit that got her at top of the European Hot 100 Singles chart. It also won Best Female Video and Best Dance Video at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards.
The year 2003 saw her contribution of the song "Feel Good Time" to the soundtrack of the film Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, and this was later included on non-U.S. editions of Pink's third album "Try This".
From here, Pink took a break to write the songs for her fourth album "I Am Not Dead" which was released in 2006 and it is important to note that she was still with LaFace Records. The break she took to concentrate on this album was worth it since it proved a worldwide success reaching the Top Ten in the US, Top Five in the UK, No. 1 in Germany, and No. 1 in Australia.
With the unprecedented success of many of her singles such as “Sober”, “Bad Influence”, “Please Don’t Leave Me”; it was only in 2010 that Pink released a compilation album "Greatest Hits... So Far!!!"
And in September 2012, she released her sixth album "The Truth About Love" which made its debut and topped the Billboard 200 and was nominated Best Pop Vocal Album during the 55th Annual Grammy Awards.
2016 saw her release singles till her seventh album and last to date namely "Beautiful Trauma" which was released in August 2017.
