Their first album, ‘The Hurting’ came in March 1983 and remained sixty-five weeks in the UK album charts, then peaking at number one and ultimately going straight to platinum. Tears for Fears soon became one of the most celebrated bands internationally within just a year. The next single in 1983, ‘The Way You Are’ halted in the Top 30 followed by ‘Mothers Talk’ in 1984 that peaked in the Top 20. In the November of 1984, Tears for Fears fate and fortunes were sealed with the release of the single ‘Shout’ that made Top 5 while the album ‘Songs from the Big Chair’ was number 2 and spent six months in the Top Ten.
