Thomas Rhett has been born and raised in a country music family. Born as Thomas Rhett Akins Jr. on March 30, 1990, he had already been smitten by country music. His father Rhett Akins was also a singer. Rhett Jr. grew up in the company of other singers which includes Tim McGraw and Brooks & Dunn.
In his brim of high school education, Rhett Jr. learned how to play the drums and also he would get to assist his father on stage. He also was a part of the band named The High Heeled Flip Flops. His interest in studies wasn’t much as all he had was music on his mind. He attended college and studied communications just because his friends were attending. His interest in music grew fonder and fonder, and one fine day he decided to drop off from college to pursue a career in music.
While playing at a local club, Rhett Jr. was approached by an executive from Big Machine Label Group, and he was offered a publishing deal to write songs. Thus, he began his career in the music industry by writing many songs for the company.
His co-written songs for the Big Machine Records include Jason Aldean’s “I Ain’t Ready to Quit” in the year 2010 and “1994” in the year 2013. “I Ain’t Ready to Quit” song lasted for 21 weeks in the top 40 of the Billboard 200, and it sold about 1.7 million copies. He also co-wrote Lee Brice’s “Parking Lot Party” and Florida Georgia Line’s “Round Here”.
It had to be 2012 to make Rhett Jr. Came into the limelight as he released his debut single “Something To Do with My Hands” and “Beer With Jesus” later in the same year. Both the singles had made into the top 30 on the Hot Country Songs Charts. Later, Rhett Jr. released his third single “It Goes Like This” which had topped in the Country Airplay Chart and it attained the number 2 position on the Hot Country Songs.
Rhett Jr. released his debut album on October 29, 2013, which was titled “It Goes Like This” and in the year 2014 he released his fourth single “Get Me Some Of That”. This song became Rhett’s second number 1 single. On August 4, 2014, his fifth single named “Make Me Wanna” got released to the country radio. This song too made its way to the number 1 spot on the Country Airplay Chart on March 7, 2015. In the year 2014-2015, Rhett Jr. gave his vocals to sing a guest play along with Justin Moore on Brantley Gilbert’s “Small Town Throwdown”.
A new single titled “Crash and Burn” was released on April 7, 2015. Later, an album "Tangled Up" was released on September 25 which made into the number 1 position on the Country Airplay Chart and later another single “Die A Happy Man” of the same album too made into the top position on Country Airplay, Hot Country Songs and Canada Country Songs Chart.
His single “Unforgettable” is making its way into the top ten. He has an upcoming musical tour named Life Changes Tour which got scheduled to start on April 5 this year.
Personally, Thomas Rhett Jr. is married to his childhood sweetheart Lauren Akins, and the couple adopted a baby girl Willa Gray Akins on November 1, 2015. The family welcomed their second daughter Ada James Akins on 12th August 2017.
