Cameron Jibril Thomaz, professionally known as Wiz Khalifa, was born in September 1987 in Minot, North Dakota. Due to having military parents, he moved around a lot, settling for only short periods of time in different countries; Germany, UK, Japan, and finally settling for good in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US, where he completed his education till high school.
Wiz Khalifa is a rapper, songwriter, actor, and singer, and his only genre is Hip-hop, he has not ventured into other genres.
Wiz Khalifa started his career in 2005 and was quick in releasing his first album "Show and Prove" which he released in 2006. But his career really took off when he signed to Warner Bros. Records in 2007 as this was followed by his single "Say Yeah" in 2008 which received urban radio airplay and eventually made its mark on Rhythmic Top 40, as well as the Hot Rap Tracks in 2008.
He parted ways with Warner Bros rather quickly, and in 2009 he released his second album "Deal or No Deal". From then on, he has released an album on a yearly basis, approximately till the present day.
In 2010, he partnered with Atlantic Records, and during that period released two albums "Rolling Papers" and "O.N.I.F.C", and from these albums, he released some singles that have gained success as well as awards. One of the songs 'Black and Yellow' has received radio airplay as well as peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 as number one. It was after this he released the album "Rolling Stones" in 2011 which came as number two on the US Billboard 200. Later in the same year, Wiz Khalifa was nominated and won Best New Artist at the BET Awards of 2011.
And in 2012, he released the studio album O.N.I.F.C (Only Nigga in First Class), and from this album two singles that received good commercial acclaim namely "Work Hard, Play Hard" and "Remember You"; while Work Hard, Play Hard managed to go platinum.
“Blacc Hollywood” is the next album that has been released by Wiz Khalifa in 2013, and from which a number of singles have gained awards on various boards. This was followed by his sixth album "Khalifa" in 2016, and in the same year, he released the single "Pull Up" as a promotion to his next album "Rolling Papers 2" which has only been released recently in 2018.
He has kept himself in the spotlight as a successful rapper and has been known to mix a little singing along with rapping. He has collaborated on many occasions with other artists such as Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Curren$y, Juicy J, Snoop Dogg, among others. But he has also been known to rap some songs of other artists as a way of presenting these songs, this has been done either with the original singer doing a duet along with Khalifa or he would do that alone.
