The Texas Rangers are based in Arlington, Texas where they host matches at the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The baseball team is an American professional baseball team that competes in the Major League Baseball (MLB) in the West Division of the American League (AL) since 1994. The team’s name got its inspiration from the popular law enforcement agency having the same name and was established as a franchise back in 1961.  The team started in Washington D.C. as Washington Senators and later moved to Minnesota as Twins, after which they moved to Arlington, Texas after the 1971 season from which they debuted as the Texas Rangers the next Spring.

The MLB baseball team has so far made 8 appearances in the Major League Baseball post-season, 7 divisional championships in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2010, 2015, and 2016, and they made it as a Wildcard baseball team in 2012. The Texas Rangers moved past the Division Series for the first time in 2010, when they defeated Tampa Bay Rays, and won their first American League pennant by defeating New York Yankees.  The franchise’s first World Series appearance in 2010, the Texas Rangers were defeated by San Francisco Giants in 5 matches. They also lost the World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals in 2011 in 7 matches when they came back as American League Champions.

The Texas Rangers players who have been in the Texas Sports Hall of Fame include Lee Ballanfant between 1972 and 1981, Ivan Rodriguez between 1991 and 2002 together with 2009, Jim Sundberg between 1974 - 1983 and 1988 – 1989 respectively, Lance Berkman in 2013, Nolan Ryan between 1989 and 19993, and Burt Hooton in 1985. By the 2016 season, the team had won 4,277 games and losing 4,649, as well as equating to .479 lifetime winning percentage in the franchise history. After their appearance in the 2011 World Series together with the 2012 season, Texas Rangers has 19-25 in individual playoff matches in addition to an overall 4-6 for post-season series.

The Mascot is the Texas Ranger’s team captain and was inaugurated in 1972 when the team relocated to Arlington, Texas. The Mascot is represented by a palomino style horse that is dressed up in the Rangers uniform and wears jersey number 72 to denote 1972 relocation. It implies that the Texas Rangers Mascot wears a chosen uniform that the team chooses for a particular match. The team’s captains have been Buddy Bell up to 1985, Alex Rodriguez up to 2004, and Adrian Beltre from 2013 up to the present day.

Some of the Texas Rangers season records include having the highest batting average of .359 by Josh Hamilton in 2010, most games played in 163 matches in 1980 by Al Oliver, most at bats of 372 by Juan Gonzalez in 1996.  Michael Young had the highest slugging percentage of .643 in 1996 and most doubles of 52 in 2006, while Ruben Sierra had the moist triples of 14 in 1989, and Alex Rodriguez had the most home runs of 57 in 2002.
